Conveyor systems are a portion of mechanical-handling equipment which is used to transport materials or products from one destination to another.
Conveyors are common in scrapyards, airports, factories and many other types of locations. They become useful when items are required to be fed and transported to another area, which makes these processes more convenient, faster, and easier.
Conveyor System Types
1. Chain Belt Conveyors
These conveyors also go by the name of Chain Edge conveyors and they are designed for carrying high volumes. These are common on work floors and in many cases are used for the transport of waste materials. The Chain Belt conveyor is also commonly utilized for mixed lines, sorting line-feeds, along with feed-side eject-balers.
2. Steel Belt Conveyors
These conveyors use 2 belt design types which include the steel apron and the piano hinge. They are made to transport large weights, which usually includes anything from 20 to 50 tons an hour. Due to the tonnage, these conveyor systems are used for heavy-feeder applications, like heavy-duty 2 RAM scrap balers, heavy-duty mixed-waste line, and compactors.
3. Slider Bed Conveyors
This conveyor is more suitable for the applications whereby chain belts are too weak and the steel belts are too heavy. These conveyors feature capacities which begin at 1 ton up to 15 tons along with a mechanism that varies the speed which allows for both slow, medium and fast operations. This conveyor is mainly used for horizontal balers and feeding-side eject-balers.
4. MRF Sorting Lines
This is not a standardized type of conveyor system. It features combinations of steel belts, chain belt, and a slider bed. This conveyor type is typically designed according to the client’s requirements.
Conveyor systems are used in just about every industry when materials are required to move from location to location. This includes plastic-making factories, recycling centers, bottling plants and more. They are useful in the industries where processes are required for the movement of materials and items at intervals that are regular in a manner that is cyclical.
